Because I still know people who think it’s a real conspiracy.

I drove past a church yesterday. Their sign read something like, “Christ is the reason for the season. Don’t X him out!”

and you know what? While we’re at it, this writer makes a lot of good points: “Let’s put ‘Christ’-mas in it’s place,” Her argument for completely separating Advent from “Christmas” is appealing. Trying to smush them together into one convoluted event takes away from the sacredness of Advent and puts an awkward religious twist on silly things like twinkle lights and cookies. By separating them, we’ll lose neither, and both will become more meaningful.
