Well, the first day of fall is quickly approaching. Since I was somewhat MIA from blogging this summer, I never got around to posting the “Summery Summary” as Jon coined it. So before we descend into sweaters and scarves, here’s one last look back on the warmer (scorching) days of 2012.

In 1984, my brother Zack, an aspiring auteur, tried his hand at video.
I thought it’d be fitting for Sam’s birthday to highlight this nice little profile Zack did.
(I did make two edits. The video game went on for an agonizing amount of time, so I clipped that. There was a nice bit of Zack narrating while Sam played with his He-Man action figures, but it was too dark to see anything, so I cut that too.)
This church is across the street from my grandmother’s house. She’s lived in this neighborhood and attended this church almost her entire life. My parents were married here, and we had every family Christmas in the basement until my late teens.
I understand why they’re tearing it down. It’s been virtually unused for a while now. That doesn’t make it any less sad for me to see it devoured by these prehistoric-looking creatures.
Also, a note on the song, a friend of mine told me the other day that it reminded her of me. I looked up the lyrics, and they are so beautiful. I felt like they were written for my own soul. I wanted to post a sample of them, but I couldn’t narrow it down to any one spot. Just go read the whole thing.
